Artist’s Statement
My art has always taken inspiration from the natural world. The myriad of intertwined shapes, colors, textures, and energy derived from simply observing my surroundings forms the inspiration and inception of a piece. As my physical vision diminished, my approach to the finished work has evolved from a recognizable impression to an abstract and spontaneous language of expression. Painting becomes a process to reduce the elements of landscape and personal experience to basic forms, where the immediacy of the paint and the painted gestures reflect energy, movement, emotion and depth.
